Native to Texas the Lupinus texensis, blooms in beautiful splendor during the spring, creating showy meadows in Texas. It is a perennial but also grows as an annual in colder climates. Several lupine species are called Texas Bluebonnet and qualify as the state flower, but this is the most popular. THe Lupinus succulentus is the msot hardy of the lupines. It is native to California, but can be found growing wild in Arizona in the canyons. It grows quickly and blooms heavily.
